Amazing changes have been underway at the Bessie Rowell Community Center in Franklin, New Hampshire. Over the past year, an empty building that was once an elementary school has been transformed into a community center that fosters good health and supports healthy eating and active lifestyle (HEAL) practices.

The grant was awarded to the Northern New England Chapter of the American Planning Association as part of a 15-month program called “Plan4Health”. It will support efforts to improve access to physical activity and nutritious foods and represents a major new collaboration between planners and public health professionals.
